Salesforce Outlook Integration

You can use the Salesforce Outlook integration to quickly connect an email you receive to one or more Salesforce records as well as to log emails that you send to specific records in Salesforce.

Install the Salesforce Plug-In

From your Outlook window, click the 3 dots to expand your navigation bar. Next, click "Get Add-ins" to open the Add-in Library.

Search for "Salesforce" in the search bar at the top right corner and click "add". If you run into any issues, submit a help ticket to ITS for assistance.

Once you have the add-in installed, you can access it via the same 3 dot menu and pin it in your inbox pane for quick access by clicking the pin icon.

Logging Emails you Receive to Salesforce

Each email can be connected to multiple people (contact/lead/user) in Salesforce and to 1 other object (account/opportunity/special event)

Salesforce will suggest people to connect the email to based on the email addresses involved in the email exchange - if the email address matches a contact in Salesforce, that person will be suggested.

If you're linking an internal staff member, be sure to choose their contact record not their user record to connect the email to.

Select each contact that you want to log the message to - you can choose as many as you want. You can use the search feature (once you've selected contact from the drop down menu (1)) to look up additional contacts that are not suggested.

Once you've chosen the people you want to connect the record to, you have the option to select another Salesforce object (such as opportunity, special event, account, etc) to log the email to. You'll see suggested records listed below the "People" section in the side bar.

You can also choose the object you want in the drop down menu of the search field and then search for the record you want. Once you've selected it, click save.

Once you've selected all of the people and the additional object that you want to connect the email to, click Log Email to attach the email to those records.

When you navigate to one of the records in Salesforce, you'll see the email show up in the Activity section of the record's page layout. When you click on the email from the Activity feed, you can see the contents of the message as well as the other associated Salesforce records.

You can choose the suggested records (1) listed in the side bar or use the search box (2) to look up the record you want. To use the search box, first choose the Salesforce object (contact, account, opportunity, etc) that you want to search, then type in the record name.
