Record Owner
The record owner determines who can see and edit a record, based on their security settings. By default, record ownership is assigned to the user who creates a record, but record ownership can always be transferred, depending on privileges.
Note: The Record Owner is different from the Relationship Manager. The Relationship Manager is a separate field which is typically the person who has the most direct contact with a contact such the program director. The Contact Owner field is connected to systems wide permissions and roles within Salesforce whereas the Relationship Manager informs how that contact should be reached out to directly.
