Modify a Salesforce Classic Email Template

Switch to Salesforce Classic

Click on your user icon in the top right corner of the screen, then select "Switch to Salesforce Classic".

Go to "My Settings"

Click on your name at the top right corner of your Salesforce page. Click on "My Settings" in the dropdown menu.

Click the "Email" section in the menu on the left hand side to expand the options, then click "Email Templates."

Modify an existing template

Find the existing template

Click on the "Folder" dropdown menu to see a list of email template folders. Select your folder and search for your email.

To create a new version of an old email, clone the existing template. Otherwise skip this step and go directly to the edit step.

Click on the template to open it, then click the "Clone" button.

Click "Edit HTML Version"

Modify the email as needed

If the template type is HTML, you'll see a preview of the formatted email (example shown below) which you can edit directly with any changes. Note: If want to create a new HTML template, a letterhead is required and formatting is somewhat limited. Reach out to Phoebe Copeland with any questions.

If the template type is Custom (the type used for iContact imports), you'll see the html code rather than the formated version. If you need to make simple text edits, us Command+"F" to search for the portion of the email you need to alter and make the changes directly to that text. If you need to make a formatting change, building a completely new template via the lighting email builder is recommended.
