Building Custom Redirects

Custom redirects are a great option when you want to gather more data on the number of clicks to a specific link (both within Pardot such as the Hit Pause newsletter as well as outside of Pardot such as on an Exec Sem landing page) as well as who is clicking on that link if they're already in the Pardot list.

This can be used in a variety of places - Pardot emails, Aspen landing pages, 5 Best Ideas newsletter, social media, etc. - with the caveat that the person who clicked will only be named if they were already in the Pardot list or joined after clicking and completing a form.

To build a custom redirect, click on the "Content" tab and then "Custom Redirects" in the navigation bar to the left.

Click the "+ Add Custom Redirect" blue CTA in the top right. Then name it based on the link you'll be creating a custom redirect for, the folder it should be attributed to (ex: Executive Seminars, AGLN, Weave), the relevant campaign, and add the existing destination URL (make sure not to double up on http:// as that's already included).

Lastly, create a unique and easily recognizable vanity URL that will be what people see and then under "Completion Actions" at the bottom, select "Adjust Scoring Category", the relevant program under "Scoring Category" (ex: Executive Seminars), and add generally 1 point as you did when creating a form. This will increase the clicker's scoring that reflects their interest in our programming.

Example: You will be running a promotion in 5 Best Ideas that leads people to our Custom Seminars page. See below how you'd go about this.

Now that you've created the Custom Redirect, you can pull the full vanity URL from the next screen and send this over to the 5BI team to use in their newsletter.

Custom Redirect Reporting/Stats

When you return to the main Custom Redirects page, you can click on a Custom Redirect > "View Report" in the top right > view all the unique clicks of people within the Pardot list who clicked on the link and see when.
